Operation Sparkle Shorts, Day 1!

Here we have the mastermind of Operation Sparkle Shorts, Zach, and I officially making the bet, handshake and all.

When we dreamed up this scheme, I was 219 pounds.

Yesterday was the starting point. The gym scale said I was 216.5 pounds, and my home scale said I was 213.4 pounds, so one of the scales needs to be recalibrated.

Huzzah!
I have to go to the doctor's on Monday to get my shins checked out again, so I am going to see what the balance beam scale says, because those are usually right on the money.

I get really bad shin splints, to the point where my shins look like they were a paintball target, and feel like someone tested a sledgehammer on them.

I finally went to the doctor and got them checked out, and turned out I had some major stress fractures going on. I stopped jump roping and running, and I have been taking calcium pills every day, hoping that I can get them to heal!

Anyway, yesterday I did Marcin's Core Conditioning Class, then the fateful Traditional Boxing Class that started my addiction with boxing. Afterwards, I sparred two rounds with Zach, and then, since it was the first day of Hanukkah, Menace, Sonic, Koala, Zach and I played dreidel! (Dreidel is definitely the key to a healthy workout plan!)

Playing dreidel in the ring with Hershey's Kisses!

After, I did some bodyweight exercises with Zach that were extremely challenging, but I finished them. I did pushups,   Russian twists with a medicine ball, toe touch sit-ups with a medicine ball, core crunches on a balance ball, scissor kicks, planks and dips.

The dips just about killed me, since I have no shoulder strength...yet. Zach told me that the better I get at dips, the less tired I will get while punching, so I'm all for it!

As you can imagine, my muscles hurt today, but it's all good - it means I did the exercises right and made my muscles work! Pretty soon those exercises will be easy! (I hope!)
